University of Sydney International Scholarships

Brief description:
The University of Sydney invites candidates who are eligible to undertake a Postgraduate Research Degree or Master’s by Research program at this University to apply for the University of Sydney International Research Scholarship (USydIS).  The objective of the USydIS is to attract top quality international postgraduate students to undertake research projects which will enhance the University’s research activities.

Scholarship value/inclusions:
The USydIS will cover tuition fees and living allowance for up to three years with a possibility of one semester’s extension for PhD students.
Eligibility:
In order to be eligible for the scholarship, you must be admitted as a student under a Postgraduate Research or Masters by Research Program at the University of Sydney. For details on Scholarship Selection, please refer to the Supplementary information for research scholarship applicants.
Application instructions:
Applicants who wish to be considered for the IPRS and USydIS awards may indicate this by completing the relevant section of the Postgraduate Research Application Form. No separate application for a USydIS Scholarship is necessary.
To be considered for the USydIS, applications must be received by the International Student Office by 31 July of the previous year for semester 1 (March) or by 15 December of the previous year for semester 2 (July).

Adelaide Scholarships International

Brief description:
The University of Adelaide offers Adelaide Scholarships International (ASI) to attract high quality overseas postgraduate students to areas of research strength in the University of Adelaide to support its research effort.

Any Masters degree by Research or Doctoral Research Degree offered at the University
Number of Scholarships: Limited.

Scholarship value/inclusions:
The scholarships includes course tuition fees, annual living allowance ($25,392 in 2014), and health insurance (if award holder holds a subclass 574 visa). The scholarship covers a period of two years for a Masters degree by Research and three years for a Doctoral research degree.
Eligibility:
Applicants should hold at least the equivalent of an Australian First Class Honours degree (this is a four year degree with a major research project in the final year) and must enroll in the University of Adelaide as ‘international students’ and must maintain ‘international student’ status for the duration of their enrolment in the University.  See the official website for the complete eligibility requirements.
Applications for these scholarships are always highly competitive.  Generally ASI recipients have completed a Masters degree including a significant research component and have several publications and relevant work and research experience.

Only apply if you meet the selection criteria above. To apply, you must submit a formal application for Admission and a Scholarship via the online application system.  You can apply for a Adelaide Scholarships International in one of the four scholarship rounds.

Melbourne International Research Scholarships

The Melbourne International Research Scholarships (MIRS) is awarded to international students wishing to undertake graduate research degree studies at the University of Melbourne.

Scholarship value/inclusions:
Benefits provided by the MIRS include living allowance, relocation grant, thesis allowance, and paid sick, maternity and parenting leave.  Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) is also included.

Eligibility:
To be considered for the MIRS, you must:
- be an international applicant (ie. a citizen of a country other than Australia or New Zealand, and not an Australian permanent resident);
- have completed tertiary studies that are at least equivalent to a 4-year honours degree at an Australian university with a minimum result of first class honours;
- have applied for admission to undertake a master or doctorate by research degree or be currently enrolled in a research degree at the University of Melbourne

MIRS applicants should submit complete both their applications for admission and scholarship by 31 October 2014 or 31 May 2015.

The University of Western Australia International Postgraduate Research Scholarships

Brief description:
Applications are invited from suitably qualified international students to undertake the degree of Master by Research or Doctor of Philosophy at The University of Western Australia under the International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS) . These schemes seek to attract top quality international postgraduate students to areas in which the University has specialised research strengths and to support Australia’s research effort.

Scholarship value/inclusions:
The IPRS scholarships cover International Tuition Fees for up to four (4) years, as well as Overseas Student Health Cover.  Successful applicants will also be awarded a full living allowance scholarship and UWA Top-Up Scholarship (the total combined value for 2014 is $28,892 per annum).

Eligibility:
The IPRS Scholarships are only available to applicants who:
        - have completed a four year undergraduate degree at first-class honours level or equivalent
        - may be disadvantaged if the Scholarships Committee cannot make a comparison with The University of Western Australia’s standards, particularly in relation to the class of honours achieved, that is first or second class honours
        - intend to enrol as a full-time candidate for a master’s degree by research or a PhD degree
        -will be commencing their course in the semester following the scholarship round in which they have successfully applied.
