Purpose of Role and BackgroundThis role is offered as a 12 month short term contract to cover a maternity leave in the team.
Purpose of RoleWorking in partnership with management teams and colleagues, the Client Management HR Manager’s responsibilities will range from driving performance management, managing employee relations issues, delivering employee communications, supporting on policy development, supporting change management initiatives, driving talent management, organisational development, through to managing the delivery of the reward strategy within client groups. HR Manager delivers a strategic partnership and commercially driven HR support to an international client group in order to achieve Business goals.
Background Information:A trusted advisor to internal and external clients on the entire range of HR issues covering the full employee life cycle liaising and coordinating with the HR centres of excellence where necessary. Expertise required to explain complex HR issues, build trust, negotiate and attain agreement. The HR Client Management Teams provide an HR business partner function for a defined client group, focusing on areas which include: performance management, learning and development, international recruitment and selection, reward and employee relations. This requires a high degree of interaction with clients at all levels and with the specialist units within HR.
Each HR Client Management Team consists of 5 or 6 team members responsible for approx. 900 employees at all levels. The HR Manager works with minimal supervision and guidance and has primary responsibility for a defined, often diverse, client group located in Headquarters and the Bank’s 34 Resident Offices spanning 27 countries.
The HR Manager understands the key business drivers and connects this knowledge to work priorities and delivery.
Key Responsibilities and Deliverables· Acts as a Business Partner to provide experienced advice and guidance in order to support, influence and challenge the business in the implementation of HR policies and procedures in accordance with the Staff Handbook and Staff Regulations.
· Anticipate and identify commercial solutions to complex HR issues to achieve business goals.
· Manage all HR elements of the employee life cycle with the business including learning and development, reward, performance management, redundancy and international recruitment to mitigate legal and reputational risk.
· Responsible for the management, mediation and facilitation of sensitive, delicate or problematic employee relation issues, disputes and medical cases to reach a successful resolution for the employee and the Bank and to mitigate grievances and maintain business continuity, with recourse to the HR Client Manager and /or Employee Relations Unit as appropriate.
· Coach clients in the development of their people management skills to ensure best practice across the institution.
· Work with key stakeholders in setting challenging objectives and pro-actively identifying performance management issues to drive a high performance culture.
· Collaboratively decide with the business their resource planning measures and identify short/long term solutions to achieve business goals.
Designs, manages on going improvements and implements policies and delivers services in client area in accordance with client expectations which align to business objectives and best practice.
Essential Skills, Experience & Qualifications
· Extensive and proven professional HR generalist experience, preferably gained in the financial services sector plus experience in one or two specialist areas (Employee Relations, Mobility, Compensation and Benefits, Learning & Development)
· Graduate (minimum degree) in relevant discipline preferred.
· CIPD or equivalent.
· Experience of operating in a demanding client facing role with sound judgement.
· Strong partnership, influencing and problem solving skills to enable positive engagement with stakeholders throughout the Bank
· Skills in facilitation and counselling
· Fluency in English both oral and written.
Experience working in a multi-national environment is desirable.

- A constant requirement to interface with clients, often on personal or sensitive issues, from a vast range of culture and ethnic backgrounds which requires consistent amendments to the HR Managers personal style in order to successfully engage with the client.
- Creative minded to operate in a constrained environment whilst still achieving the business goals.
- The requirement to stay up to date with the changes in policies and procedures to be assured of providing the correct advice at the point of request. Ensure best practice initiatives are followed.
- Working within an environment that has its own employment law framework which is often untested.
