We seek qualified candidates for a Finance Audit Associate position in Durham,
NC or Washington, DC.
Assist in managing, preparing and administering the audit plan and schedule
activities related to annual audit and third party audit. Provides assistance
with the development and management of internal financial audits. Develops
formal written reports to communicate audit results to management and
regulatory compliance agencies, if applicable, and makes recommendations as
appropriate. Provides assistance with technical guidance for compliance with
Generally Accepted Accounting Procedures (GAAP). Knowledge of Cost Accounting
Standards (CAS) and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) may also be required.
Experience in comprehensive management of business support and compliance
functions in organizations funded via government, contracts and grants,
foundation, and commercial sources.
Additional Responsibilities:

Assist the Finance Audit Manager
(FAM) draft on policy updates, financial
projects and compliances
·
Prepare, review and analyze
monthly reconciliation reports for Accounting, Billing and cash management
·
Assists in participating and
providing financial reporting for annual audit planning, reviews and
assessments
·
Engaged and assist in the more
critical and confidential aspects of financial analysis. Duties require broad
conceptual judgment, initiative and ability to deal with a wide range of
finance issues.
·
Works with confidential data,
which if disclosed, might have significant internal and / or external effect.
·
Keeps abreast with the latest
trends in financial accounting.
·
As needed basis assist other
finance staff with non-routine general accounting duties.
·
In the absence of FAM, act as the
principal liaison with EY auditors and coordinate the process of document
collection and dissemination.
·
Assist the Controller and FAM
draft the Financial Statements and notes to the Financial Statements.
·
When required prepare lead audit
schedules.
·
Act the lead HQ coordinator for
all OCIA directed audits.
·
Assist the FAM gather information
to prepare the annual 990 tax filing.
·
Performs other duties as
assigned.
Qualifications:
·
Bachelor’s degree or its
international equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
·
3 - 5 Years of progressively
responsible financial analysis experience in an internal audit role.
·
Comprehensive knowledge of
concepts, practices, and procedures with accounting, financial controls and
financial information systems.
·
Sound knowledge and past
experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) practices and
reporting guidelines.
·
Experience with automated
financial reporting, government accounting practices, Cost Accounting Standards
(CAS), and Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) systems.
·
Experience in providing
outstanding customer service, performing complex activities associated with
ensuring compliance with company’s system of internal controls is required.
·
Familiarity with International
Auditing Standards
·
Computerized accounting software
experience and proficiency in spreadsheet software required.
·
Articulate, professional and able
to communicate in a clear and positive fashion with clients and staff.
·
Must be able to read, write and
speak fluent English.
·
Non-governmental organization
(NGO) experience preferred.
