Background Information:
BHP Billiton Iron Ore is one of the world's leading suppliers of iron ore.
The Company's operations currently involve an integrated system of seven inland
mines, more than 1,000 kilometres of rail and two separate port facilities;
Nelson Point and Finucane Island at Port Hedland.
Position
Reporting to the General Manager Yandi within the Mining Yandi team, your
duties will include:

Ensure conformance with the BHP
Billiton Charter, the BHP Billiton Group Level Documents, Code of Conduct and
relevant statutory obligations
·
An overriding commitment to
health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development

As a Section 44 Appointed Person,
you are required to ensure compliance with the requirements of the Mine Safety
and Inspection Act and Mines Safety Inspection Regulations in accordance with
your appointment
·
Demonstrate visible safety
leadership to promote a culture of zero harm through appropriate time in the
field utilising effective Layered Audits, Critical Control Observations,
Planned Task Observations, Take Time Talks and the endorsement of the quality of Take 5's and JHA's
·
Set the vision, strategy and long
term goals for the Production Planning Department
·
Positively influence and shape
the culture to ensure a safe, sustainable and disciplined approach to work
·
Lead transformational initiatives
and role model changes to ensure successful delivery and alignment with
strategy
·
Lead delivery of designs, plans,
models and schedules for the Short Range Forecast / 2 year budget in
conjunction with internal customers
·
Manage the translation of the 5
Year Plan into 2 year operating plan in a way that utilizes the ore body in an
effective way to achieve desired targets including quality prediction and
reconciliation
·
Ensure integration of planning
across the Production Departments in terms of production volumes, shutdowns and
logistics issues that impact Production. Liaise with the Mining department in
particular to ensure alignment between Mine Planning and Production Execution.

Identify and mitigate the risks
(geotechnical, surveying, hydrogeological) associated with the short term mine
plan, ensuring critical controls are in place and effective to ensure
compliance to standards and specifications.

Ensure the Mine Plan allows for
optimisation of Fleet Management in order to minimise disruption and maximise
productivity
·
Ensure geological processes
maximise ore recovery
·
Develop operating and capital
forecasts and budgets for the Production Planning Department
Skills and Experience
As the successful candidate you will possess the following:
·
Tertiary qualification in
Engineering/Geology (or related discipline in Science, Technology or
Administration and Management) or equivalent industry experience
·
Quarry Manager Certificate will
be advantageous or eligible to qualify for WA Unrestricted Quarry Managers
certificate
·
A proven track record of safety
management
·
Previous experience in Mine
Planning Information Systems
·
Excellent communication,
negotiation, influencing and relationship management skills
·
Ability to interact effectively
with multiple layers of the organisation with demonstrated success initiating
change and ability to influence at all levels
·
Proven experience in customer
relationship management, problem solving and process improvement
·
Solid experience in guiding,
developing and influencing practice in the Production Planning area, requires
detailed knowledge of procedures and concepts in own functional area and
limited knowledge of other functions
·
Experience in a large scale open
pit mining operation is preferred
·
Leadership: Demonstrated
experience in a middle management role that managed up to 10 individual
contributors for 6 to 8 years. Made a strategic contribution by using the team
and the advice of functional staff to imagine all possible practices and
systems that might be used for delivery and selecting those that are within
budget and appropriate for local conditions.

Minimum of C class manual drivers
licence
Location
You will be based at our 'Yandi' mine on a fly-in fly-out 5 days on 2 days
off; followed by 4 days on 3 days off (5:2:4:3) roster. Yandi is located approximately 170kms North
of Newman West Australia. The outstanding facilities at the FIFO village
include; a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, squash, tennis and basketball
courts, golf driving range, mini golf, netted cricket pitch, beach volleyball
court and recreation room. All rooms at the village have their own ensuite
bathroom, television, internet, refrigerator and air-conditioning.
