Background Information:

BHP Billiton Iron Ore is one of the world's leading suppliers of iron ore. The Company's operations currently involve an integrated system of seven inland mines, more than 1,000 kilometres of rail and two separate port facilities; Nelson Point and Finucane Island at Port Hedland.

Position
Reporting to the Superintendent Reliability and Improvement, within the Port Maintenance team your duties will include:
·              Provide advice to Line Managers, Superintendents and Supervisors on technical training issues;
·             Facilitate the design, review and updating of technical training material to ensure validity;
·             Development of strategies to ensure a competent workforce;
·             Ensure training plans and schedules are collaboratively complied to maximise effectiveness and communicated appropriately;
·             Liaise with key stakeholders to determine the technical training requirements for line maintenance employees positions including apprentices;
·             Manage and monitor of training and undertaken by employees and vendors; and
·             Manage allocated budget.
Skills and Experience

As the successful candidate you will possess the following:

·             Trade certificate in a mechanical or electrical trade occupation;
·             Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40110;
·             Strong planning and organisation skills;
·             Attention to detail, delivering quality, accurate and timely work;
·             Substantial experience in delivering technical training related to equipment operation and/or maintenance;
·             An ability to lead and manage change in a complex environment as well as being able to develop others through coaching and mentoring;
·             Strong communication skills, able to source information from a range of people;
·             Ability to build rapport and strong working relationships with key stakeholders;
·             Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team;
·             Demonstrated ability at maintaining a high level of confidentiality;
·             Comprehensive understanding of the Vocational Education and Training sector;
·             Advanced computer skills – Word, Excel, PowerPoint; and
·             Minimum of C class manual drivers licence

Location
The successful candidate will have the option to be based in Port Hedland on 5 days on 2 days off residential roster, or a FIFO arrangement on a 5/2/4/3 roster from Perth.
Port Hedland is home to our port and rail operations and is the largest regional centre in North West Australia.  The 15,000-strong population enjoys well-established education services, entertainment, shopping and medical facilities.
The excellent sporting and leisure facilities include; a new aquatic centre, sports stadium and water play park. Its beaches and mangroves are home to an abundance of fish and other wildlife.  Within driving distance are the spectacular Broome, Karratha and Karijini national Park. As this is a residential position you will also be provided with subsidised rental accommodation in addition to power and water subsidies.
