Background Information:
BHP Billiton Iron Ore is one of the world's
leading suppliers of iron ore. The Company's operations currently involve an
integrated system of seven inland mines, more than 1,000 kilometres of rail and
two separate port facilities; Nelson Point and Finucane Island at Port Hedland.
Position
Reporting to the Superintendent Analysis & Improvement,
within the Non Process Infrastructure Utilities team, your duties will include:
To ensure safety of personnel conducting
excavations in and around mining operations and in the Newman township, you
will maintain and revise plans of drawings of Power and Water Network areas
showing the location and details of:

All
high voltage cabling and equipment;
·
Mains
switches;
·
High
and low voltage cables installed underground;
·
All
overhead power line routes;
·
All
fixed water service pipeline routes;
·
All
communications services installed underground;
·
All
other buried services that might be impacted by excavation activity; and
·
Management of the Excavation permit process
including plotting and issuing of plans as required for the purpose of
Excavation permits.
Skills and Experience
As the successful candidate you will possess the
following:
·
Associate Diploma in Surveying or Drafting
·
Electrical Trade certificate (desirable)
·
Underground
services drafting or surveying experience
·
Be and
advanced level MicroStation user
·
Strong
negotiation and work management skills
·
Competent user of Microsoft Office packages
·
Ability
to collaborate, share knowledge and influence others
·
Minimum
of C class manual drivers licence
Location
With this role you have the choice of either
being residentially based in Newman or fly-in fly-out from Perth to Newman on a
5/2 4/3 roster.
Our 'Mount Whaleback' mine site, which at more
than five kilometres long and nearly 1.5 kilometres wide is the biggest
single-pit open-cut iron ore mine in the world. If you elect to take a
residential option, you will be joining a 7,000 strong population in Newman,
which enjoys well-established town facilities including a newly revitalised
town centre and sporting facilities. As
a gateway to the Karijini national park, you will be in close proximity to
spectacular gorges, water courses and stunningly unique landscapes. With our
residential option you will also be provided with subsidised rental
accommodation in addition to relocation, power and water subsidies.
