Job Description
The role of the Trades Assistant is to support the Mechanical Maintenance
team who are responsible for maximising plant availability through the
completion of both planned and breakdown maintenance tasks across all aspects
of the plant.
This includes assisting Tradesmen completing breakdown maintenance on fixed
plant equipment, casting ladles and launders, picking up and replenishing parts
from the warehouse, cleaning and tidying up the workshop, general equipment
checks plus a number of other tasks as instructed by the Mechanical Maintenance
Technicians.
Skills and Requirements
• Current experience in a heavy
engineering environment
• Good mechanical skills
• Competent using hand power tools
• Familiar with mining safety
protocols – Permit to Work & Isolation procedures
• Computer literate
• Able to work autonomously but also
as part of a team
• Good communication skills
• Nationally Accredited Forklift
Ticket
• Current manual WA Driver's License

This is a residentially based position in Kalgoorlie and is ideally suited
to local applicants.

in-concentrate and has its operations located throughout Western Australia -
comprising of mines, concentrators, a smelter and a refinery.

Kalgoorlie is the largest inland city in Western Australia and due to its
central location is positioned at the heart of the Goldfields as a vibrant
mining town and a major gateway to the Eastern States. Although fairly
isolated, the City of Kalgoorlie/Boulder offers modern shopping facilities, a
huge variety of sports, and schooling for all ages up to high school. There are

complexes of all descriptions.
The Kalgoorlie Nickel Smelter receives nickel concentrate from our mining
operations in Leinster and Mt Keith as well as from our Third Party Feed
concentrator in Kambalda. Nickel West Kalgoorlie incorporates a flash furnace
smelter, converters and an acid plant which has the capacity to produce up to
110,000 tonnes per annum of nickel matte.
