Corporate Affairs is a global function responsible for establishing and driving the strategy to protect and enhance BHP Billiton's reputation. Our team does this through establishing mutually beneficial internal and external relationships and delivers value and manages risk by securing the understanding and support of key stakeholders.
The Community sub function is tasked to understand and minimise adverse social and human rights impacts arising from company activities, develop mutually beneficial relationships with host communities and contribute to their economic and social development, enabling a shared benefit from our presence.
We are currently seeking a Manager to join our Coal team to work with the communities in the Bowen Basin region.  This opportunity, based in Moranbah, Queensland, will see you provide specialist support and execute tasks related to the Asset community investment, engagement and reporting requirements.

This opportunity will see you accountable for:
·             Working closely with the Senior Manager, Community to lead the Company's community engagement in the Northern Bowen Basin.
·             Contributing input to the advice regarding the Company's community strategy
·             Delivering research and studies to understand host community characteristics (includes Social Impact and Opportunities Assessment, social baseline, Human Rights Impact Assessment, community perception surveys)
·             Implementing systems and processes for the management of community engagement, including systems to collect, verify and report Asset social data
·             Contributing to the development of and executing Northern Bowen Basin community development plans
·             Collecting and reporting social investment and other community related data to meet external and internal reporting obligations
·             Executing the review social performance data to identify opportunities to improve performance
·             Contributing expertise in the identification and management of risks which have potential impacts on host communities
·             Working with projects to deliver and maintain community approvals, where applicable (noise/piling, roads, use of public space i.e. barge landings/construction us)
·             Working actively with the Supply Function to develop, enhance and deliver the Local Buy Program in the Northern Basin.
·             Working closely with Northern Bowen Basin mine sites to enhance the Company's community relations.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
You will preferably be degree qualified in Community Relations or related discipline with substantial experience in this area or other related Corporate Affairs disciplines drawn from working for other organisations.
You will also have strong leadership capability. Your forte will also be an ability to lead change along with highly developed stakeholder management capability as you collaborate and negotiate with a range of senior stakeholders both internally and external to the business.
