About the company and role:
BMA Coal is the owner of the largest dragline fleet in the world. In
addition to this is a sizable fleet of electric rope shovels. With the planning
and execution of major shutdowns on these machines now being undertaken by a
team of specialists for the fleet, BMA is looking for key personnel to fill the

BMA is currently seeking a number of maintenance professionals who are
looking to take the next step in their career in the role of Supervisor
Shutdown Execution. Reporting to the Superintendent Shutdown Execution (Project
Manager), you will provide key leadership and technical direction in the
execution of the shutdown to deliver safe, predictable and reliable shutdowns
outcomes. These roles will assume the responsibility as the technical
discipline leads on the shutdown whilst ensuring the work is completed in a
safe and efficient manner. This role will be predominantly based in our Central
QLD office near Peak Downs Mine; however you will be accommodated at
Blackwater, Dysart or Moranbah as required for the relevant shutdown. Flexible
working arrangements will be a requirement for this role.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Oversee the preparation and safe
execution of shutdowns on draglines and shovels;
·
Manage the shutdown lifecycle
including pre-planning, ensuring correct parts and labour are prepared for
execution and shutdown reporting;
·
Lead and coach a team of
contractors to ensure the shutdowns are executed in a safe and efficient
manner;
·
Deliver shutdowns to the approved
budget and schedule;
·
Identify improvements initiatives
to drive safety and productivity improvements
·
Ensure shutdowns are executed
within the relevant timeframes;
·
Oversee the commissioning
activities and the return of the machine to operation;
·
Capture learnings for the
shutdown and draft the technical close out report for the shutdown;
·
Successfully manage the technical
work during the shutdowns – including reviewing work undertaken and ensuring
that it is delivered to the correct quality standard; and
·
Step up as Project Manager as
required.
Skills and experience required:
·
Demonstrated history of leadership
experience within a large mining or heavy industrial environment;
·
Well-developed written, verbal
and communication skills;
·
Previous project management
experience with exposure to managing shutdowns;
·
Knowledgeable in Project
Management fundamentals and process;
·
Effective maintenance strategy
analysis, project planning, analytical and problem solving;
·
Must demonstrate excellent
teamwork skills and be capable of working harmoniously with other people;
·
A demonstrated understanding of
LEAN methodologies and work practises would also be an advantage.
·
Trade or engineering
qualification ideally mechanical or electrical ;
·
Extensive experience and
knowledge of draglines and shovels would be an advantage; and
·
Computer literacy with MS Project
and 1SAP is a must;
