External Team Building Consultant jobs at Build Africa (BA),Jobs in Uganda,



Build Africa (BA) is a UK based charity that has done development work for the last thirty years. BA programmes in Uganda focus on income improvement and support to education with cross-cutting themes in livelihoods, HIV/AIDS and gender.
Build Africa Uganda (BAU) currently works in the districts of Kumi, Ngora, Paliisa, Kibuku, Bugiri, Oyam, Bukedea, Masindi, Kiryandongo and Buliisa.
BAU seeks an external consultant(s) or an agency with whom to collaborate in the design and delivery of the one-day team building programme for up to 22 staff and 5 volunteers, 11 female and 16 male.
The exercise aims at bringing together the team members from all offices and strengthening team cohesion, spirit, and ability to think and act together. BAU has had a number of staff changes with number of new members joining, hence the need to further strengthen the team.

Expected Output
It is important to note that one full day will be dedicated for team building activities only. There will be no discussion of any programmatic or operational issues. The team building activities will focus on the following objectives:
·         Knowing each other
·         Working together (with a special focus on working together from two remote locations)
·         Trusting each other
·         Understanding cultural sensitivities
·         Respecting each other
Recruitment of a consultant
The selected consultant(s) or an agency will assist in the design, preparation and facilitation of the team building retreat as well as compiling a report outlining the workshop's proceedings, including practical recommendations and operational tools which can be used by the team in the future.
Key tasks
·         Consultant(s)/agency will complete the following tasks, in close consultation with BAU:
·         Review of all relevant documentation pertaining to BAU team
·         Draft the agenda for the one-day team building exercise
·         Design and develop team building content of the retreat and related activities
·         Present interactive and flexible facilitation tools and material aids for brainstorming prepared prior to the workshop
·         Facilitate the retreat on 18th December 2014.
·         The team building exercise should be creatively organized to include strategic brainstorming sessions aimed at helping the personnel develop and articulate corporate and individual understanding oneself and their collegues in order to achieve the retreat’s goals.
Consultants profile
Experienced (10-15 years) management or people’s development consultant or agency
Proven track record of facilitating team building and knowledge sharing workshops and consultancy experience. Payments, budget and reporting
The contractor will be paid a lump sum in one installment at the end of the assignment.
Key activities in your role will include:
·         Developing ACF’s program strategy to maximize the impact of our response to the changing needs of vulnerable populations in Uganda.
·         Monitoring results in all long-term project sites while also directing assessments in other locations in Uganda for possible emergency interventions.
·         Managing security in a highly insecure & changing environment, analyzing, identifying, & mitigating risks to the safety & security of ACF’s teams.
·         Liaising & negotiating with partners & other actors, building relationships with authorities & community leaders throughout South Sudan
·         Collecting & analyzing data related to the socio-economic & humanitarian issues in Uganda.
·         Overseeing the mission’s HR, financial & logistics management, assessments & response planning activities.
Does this description fit you?
·         You’re an experienced humanitarian professional
·         You have a Bachelors’ degree (or higher) in Humanitarian Action, International Relations, International Development & policy, or a related field.
·         You have completed further study in Security Management in Humanitarian Contexts.
·         You have at least 5 years’ field experience, culminating in time as a Deputy Country Director or Country Director. You’ve worked in highly political, complex emergencies or developmental & security environments.
·         You can successfully lead a diverse team of committed professionals
·         You've managed senior staff from a variety of cultural & technical backgrounds. You’re comfortable coaching & developing the skills of your direct reports, adapting your leadership to professionals who may, or may not, be familiar working in humanitarian action.
·         Your knowledge of the donor community ensures projects respond to the most pressing humanitarian needs & that activities remain compliant with grant requirements.
·         You’re able to analyze changes in your context & discuss the implications with senior operational staff. You are comfortable communicating HQ decisions to your team & local partners.
·         You intuitively adapt how you communicate context analysis, strategy, policies & procedures to suit different audiences - both verbally & in writing.
·         You want to lead ambitious programming that has an impact
·         You are able to see past the inevitable day-to-day emergencies to set & reinforce a long-term strategic vision for the mission.
·         You enthusiastically engage the mission’s technical teams & promote the development & implementation of innovative approaches to solve core humanitarian problems.
·         You’re proficient using project evaluations & other PCM tools to continuously improve the quality of activities under your scope of responsibility
·         You are diplomatic but tenacious.
·          You recognize that advocating for change & innovative programming requires building strong relationships with donors, local authorities & other partners, while retaining the space to speak confidently about ACF’s programs & our knowledge of the Uganda humanitarian & Development needs

The purpose of the role is to target formal & informal investment groups within the Counties in order to grow the Bank’s  Liabilities and Assets market share amongst the financial institutions focusing on Investment /Chama groups .

Key Responsibilities
·         Responsible for creating products that are designed to meet the special needs of people who are organised into groups for investment purposes.
·         Drive growth of the bank’s assets and liabilities products through the existing formal & informal groups and actively recruit organized groups.
·         Drive recruitment of the groups to open accounts and refer the groups for loans across the branches in the territory covered.
·         Manage growth of the asset and liability portfolios in the Investment/ Chama/Group sector.
·         Maintain portfolio quality within acceptable credit risk exposure as per the bank’s standards.
·         Undertake regular client visits to review their portfolio, determine potential cross sells, obtain feedback and provide advisory support.
·         Be the principal liaison of the Bank with the Government and it is various initiatives that set aside certain funds to address a category of population e.g. youth fund, women & Uwezo Funds.
·         Liaise with research Unit in the creation of group databases for prospective customers and share the relevant data with various stakeholders.
·         Pursue relationships with county staff & organize recruitment activities for scheduled counties meetings involving youth, women groups etc.
The Person
For the above position the, the successful applicants should have:-

·         University degree from a recognized institution.
·         Possession of MBA or Master’s degree or relevant professional qualifications in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
·         At least 5 years’ management  experience in the banking/financial sector and must have experience covering the following areas;
·         3 years’ experience in Sales, Customer relationship management.
·         2 years’ Credit Analysis and administration experience.
·         Experience in Micro Finance.
·         Demonstrated successful track record on delivery of results.
·         A thorough knowledge of Retail Banking products and services, and extensive Financial/Banking Industry knowledge.
·         Excellent high quality interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills with the ability to network and develop strong business relations.
·         Should be innovative in identifying and harnessing new and existing opportunities to maximize business
·         Should have strong leadership skills with demonstrated competences in championing high performance management
·         Should have excellent planning, problem solving and analytical skills.

Electronic Frauds, Forensic Services Unit, the Forensic Investigator - Electronic Frauds will be responsible for proactively preventing, detecting and investigating electronic frauds for the Group

Key Responsibilities
• Providing technical support to the Forensic team during forensic assignments, conducting fraud awareness campaigns for the group
• Carrying out forensic investigations into cases of suspected electronic fraud committed against the bank and customers
• Conducting fraud awareness campaigns for the group
• Undertaking fraud risk assessment and data mining using CAATS
• Undertaking forensic assignments
• Preparing and submitting forensic reports on assignments undertaken
• Updating the fraud database and preparing monthly statistical reports
• Attending court to give evidence in criminal and civil cases on behalf of the bank as an expert witness
• Liaising with internal and external stakeholders
• Putting in place effective measures for electronic fraud management
The Person
• University Degree preferably in IT, Business related field or Finance
• Possession of a post graduate degree will be an added advantage
• Relevant professional qualifications e.g. Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)/CPA/ACCA/CISA/Diploma in Criminal Justice or Forensic auditing
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in I.T or forensic and fraud investigations
• Minimum of 2 years management experience in an I.T environment
• Ability to use forensic imaging and analysis tools
• A good understanding of criminal law will be essential
• Experience in general banking and credit operations will be an added advantage
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Excellent report writing skills is mandatory
• Must uphold and observe high integrity
