Background Information:

BHP Billiton Iron Ore is one of the world's leading suppliers of iron ore. The Company's operations currently involve an integrated system of seven inland mines, more than 1,000 kilometres of rail and two separate port facilities; Nelson Point and Finucane Island at Port Hedland.
Position
Reporting to the Superintendent Project Readiness, within the Port Engineering team, your duties will include:
·             Supporting the capital submission process incorporating fiscal justifications
·             Providing objective advice and recommendations on strategic alternatives
·             Fiscal analysis, including identification of improvement initiatives
·             Undertaking analysis of financial and project key performance indicators
·             Maintaining capital reporting, including approvals tracking and forecasting
·             Production of timely management reports
·             Management of SAP and other project reporting and cost control business systems including Mariner
·             Taking responsibility for the monthly update process to collate and process accurate and timely accrual, forecast and status information on all Port projects
·             Interrogating the SAP system to provide clear reports on commitments, payments and actual cost data to Project Managers. This will ensure accurate monthly forecasts
·             Participating in the monthly review sessions of the Port Portfolio with General Manager's, Sponsors and Project Managers
·             Identifying opportunities for reductions in project cost including analysis of design changes, time, resource and cost implications
·             Attending meetings and ensure the accuracy of approved information within Mariner
·             Process the necessary forms for the allocation and creation of WBS numbers through liaison with Finance and the Fixed Assets team
·             Liaising with departmental Managers and Superintendents to develop accurate monthly cost forecasts
Skills and Experience
As the successful candidate you will possess the following:

·             Bachelor Commerce/ finance/ accounting / business  or higher qualification
·             3 + years proven experience in project cost control / project controls  support
·             Experience meeting deadlines working within a fast paced environment
·             Proven experience in creating more efficient and simplified work processes
·             Earned valve management understanding and experience
·             SAP experience or other Cost Management Software
·             Mariner and Primavera P6 experience
·             Advanced time management skills
·             Minimum of C class manual drivers licence

Location
In this residential role you will be based in the coastal town of Port Hedland, Western Australia. Port Hedland is home to our port and rail operations and is the largest regional centre in North West Australia.  The 15,000-strong population enjoys well-established education services, entertainment, shopping and medical facilities.
The excellent sporting and leisure facilities include; a new aquatic centre, sports stadium and water play park. Its beaches and mangroves are home to an abundance of fish and other wildlife.  Within driving distance are the spectacular Broome, Karratha and Karijini national Park. As this is a residential position you will also be provided with subsidised rental accommodation in addition to power and water subsidies.
